Sanora Babb (b.1907 - d.2005) led an interesting life. She was friends with William Saroyan, had an affair with Ralph Ellison, was a longtime member of the U.S. Communist Party and incorporated her own experiences of having grown up on Otoe territory with a professional gambler for a father into her writing. The Lost Traveller was her first book.
