New York School author and artist Joe Brainard (1942-1994) was born in Arkansas, raised in Oklahoma, and studied (briefly) at Dayton Art Institute. His first solo exhibition was at The Alan Gallery in New York (in 1965) and there have been more than two dozen since then. He is also the author of the I Remember books
