[40] pp. 1 vols. 4to. ONE OF 400 COPIES ILLUSTRATED BY MARIE LAURENCIN. A fine, bright copy in publisher's unprinted glassine dust wrapper; glassine is nicked at tips of spine, thin chip on rear panel, else bright and crisp.

Artist Marie Laurencin (1883–1956), cubist painter and printmaker, was born in Paris; she was associated with Picasso, Picabia and Delaunay, and had friendships with Apollinaire, Braque and Natalie Clifford Barney. Andre Paul Guillaume Gide won the 1947 Nobel Prize in Literature.
