Ralph Manheim was an American translator from the French and German. He translated Celine, Brecht, and a number of authors, but is most famous for his translations of Günter Grass. He translated a number of works by Grass, most famously The Tin Drum and the rest of the Danzig Trilogy.
This version of the play was published in Four Plays (Harcourt, Brace & World, 1967) and first produced in 1969 at the Questors Theatre in London.
