First edition, first issue binding. With a Frontispiece by J.B. Yeats; xii, 212 pp. 8vo. Inscribed by John Butler Yeats. Green cloth, spine stamped in gilt (with publisher's imprint at base of spine in capital letters),Spine is moderately browned, with few small chips at crown, middle edge, and at base of spine, causing slight loss to gilt stamping at base of spine, covers have light wear at corners, front flyleaf has uneven offset tanning, with narrow chip at fore-edge, front hinge has short closed tear at top edge. A good to very good copy, with the binding tight and sound, text fresh and clean. Wade 8.

Inscribed by John B. Yeats to Rosa Butt (on the half-title page): "Rosa Butt from J. B. Yeats," and with Rosa Butt's neat pencil ownership signature on front flyleaf. Rosa Butt was the daughter of Isaac Butt, the Home Rule Leader, for whom John Butler Yeats worked, while training for the Bar, prior to becoming an artist. Yeats painted a portrait of Rosa, which hangs in the Yeats Museum at the National Gallery of Ireland. William Butler Yeats won the 1923 Nobel Prize for Literature.
