First edition. 3 pp. Single sheet, folded. 1 vols. 8vo. Printed self-wrappers. Text folded in half horizontally with two, one-inch tears at the fold, lightly dust soiled, creased along spine and fore-edge, a few nicks and short tears at fore-edge margin, a good or better copy of a rare and fragile publication. Housed in custom folding cloth chemise and maroon half-morocco slipcase stamped in gilt, with raised bands Woolf A1. Item #327268
The first separately published work by Norman Douglas, an offprint limited to "about 50 copies for private distribution" and preceded only by periodical appearances. Written by Norman Douglas following a brief visit to the island of Santorin in early May of 1892.
Rare: no copy has appeared at auction since 1975. OCLC locates five copies worldwide (Yale, NYPL, Virginia Tech UCL, and National Library of Scotland).
