The complete New York Trilogy, Paul Auster's classic meta-fictional detective story, in the smallest limitation, one of 26 lettered copies. City of Glass is signed again on the title page.
This was Auster's second work and his signature theme of the search for identity and his brand of American existentialism appear fully formed here. The trilogy is not only set in New York, it uses Manhattan's grid layout as an integral part of the story. It established him as a writer to watch, and indeed Auster has since published another fourteen novels, as well as poetry, memoirs and screenplays.
