One of 500 copies published of the portfolio of photographic plates issued to accompany Andre's account of his explorations into the interior of Venezuela.
A Trinidadian botanist and explorer, Andre journed inland up the Caura River into the jungles of Venezuela between November 1900 and July 1901, reaching as far as Para Falls. The images within the portfolio largely consist of native peoples (Waiomgomo), taken by the expedition photographer Jacobson.
Scarce, with only 4 examples recorded in OCLC with both the text and portfolio of plates (Harvard, Kings College, The Natural History Museum London and the British Library). In addition, the New York Botanical Garden library has the portfolio only and Brown has the text only.
