Printed in the only typeface Baskerville designed apart from his Roman type, and cut entirely by him over a period of two years. Commissioned by Oxford University Press, which accepted Baskerville’s proposal for casting a set of new Greek types, Baskerville completed the types in 1761, and “on 23rd June the Delegates ordered 500 copies in Quarto and 2,000 in Octavo to be printed.”.
