Hand colored pictorial lithographed title, 24 hand colored lithographed plates. Folio. Contemporary full black polished calf, covers elaborately panelled in gilt, rebacked with the original spine, yellow endpapers, gilt edges. Some foxing, heaviest to the title Abbey, Scenery 450. Item #320084
Surprisingly scarce, the work was originally issued in 8 parts and would seem to have been published in a regular issue (£2.2s) and a large-paper colored issue, as here (£4.4s), judging by early advertisements. Includes the wood-engraved plate of college seals in the rear.
