Pollok (1798 - 1827) was a Scottish author, and this is his one book of poetry, an ambitious Miltonic epic of the doom of mankind; it was first issued in 1827. Pollok’s brooding apocalypse was clearly a hit, for numerous subsquent editions appeared as well.
