The celebrated 18th-century cook book in its seventh edition. Elizabeth Raffald first published her Experienced English Housekeeper book in 1769. Raffald spent fifteen years in domestic service, married, and became an entrepreneur, starting an employment agency in Manchester, where she introduced domestic workers and employers. She taught cooking as well, and introduced the "Bride Cake" and the "Eccles cake."
The signature in this edition is original: beginning with the Eighth Edition, it was a facsimile.
