First edition. 3 engraved plates, all dated 1812, each engraved by H.R. Cook after Chalon, Hilton and J. Ward. (Without the small format bookseller's advertisement leaf mentioned by Schwerdt.). [1]-123, [1]; [125]-235, [1]; [237]-344 pp. W. Wilson, Printer, 4, Greville-Street, Hutton-Garden. 8vo (25 x 16.2 cm). IN PARTS. Original printed drab paper wrappers, letterpress titles on upper covers, publisher's advertisements on two lower covers, uncut, all within a later brown cloth drop box. Minor chipping to heads and tails of spines, else fine. Bookplate of the Duke of Gloucester Schwerdt I, p. 301; Westwood and Satchell p. 130. Item #317379

RARE IN THIS CONDITION, the titles are taken from the wrappers as the printed title was apparently never issued - it appears that the author intended to issue both the title and the list of subscribers as part of the projected fourth part on 'Hunting' - this was never published. Schwerdt I, p.301

"The {Angling} letter is signed 'Piscator' and dated 1811...a second edition was issued in 1818." (Westwood and Satchell).
