Pictorial record of the Nonantum Club, an American fishing club organized from New Haven circa 1892, with lands leased on Lac des Commissaires next to the lake village of Lac Bouchette (west of Saguenay). The club is mentioned in reports of Canadian angling in Field and Stream at the turn of the twentieth century, and an 1895 guide to Quebec fishing indicates that the club (R.H. Brown, president) had recently built a clubhouse.

The pictorial title includes a central vignette with crossed fishing rods, fish, tent, a canoe on trestles, and a creel about a central image of a goat among a pile of tin cans. Two corner pieces include initials (a wall with D U R, and a heart with G and E).

The photographs include views of rail and horse transit, waterfalls, canoeing on the lake, picnics at the edge of a cleared forest, gatherings on doorsteps, fishing and camping scenes.

A unique visual record of 1890s sport in Canada.
