Item #317318

A book from FDR's personal library, acquired during his first year in the White House and inscribed by him: "Franklin D. Roosevelt. The White House 1933 ."
This is one of the many 19th century American annuals collected by FDR, who began collecting as a boy and amassed a huge personal collection by the time he entered the White House. He later established what would be the first presidential library, in Hyde Park, as a way of preserving all of his personal and political papers in a single place; most of his book collection was folded into that library. Books acquired and signed by FDR while in the White House are unusual in the trade.
