Sigismund Thalberg (1812-1871) was a composer and distinguished pianist. Rumored to the be the illegitimate son of Prince Moritz Dietrichstein and Baroness Maria Julia Wetzlar von Plankenstern, his birth certificate lists his parents are Joseph Thalberg and Fortunée Stein.

Thalberg was a young prodigy pianist and toured in America in addition to Europe. He was also one of the most popular composers of the 19th century, whose work influenced many others writing at the time.
