This fishing club was formed in 1882 after Joseph Williamson of Lackawaken bought a 1500-acre tract of land from William Holbert, and early members included many New York sportsmen. By the 1920s, the club holdings had grown to more than 4,500 acres, and many members had erected cottages, and a golf course and other sporting facilites had been built.
