Irving Bacheller (1859-1950) was a newspaperman and pioneer in newspaper syndication, whose novel Eben Holden (1900) sold more than a million copies.
Signed in his fine hand on a typed slip reading: “Signed for William J. Bower Sept 26th, 1939, for insertion in Eben Holden’s Last Day A-Fishing”.
Nice copy of a classic tale, with an autograph letter, signed, on Century Association letterhead, dated 10 May 1934, to William J. Bower, discussing the publication history of several early works, including his first book The Master of Silence (1892); and Bower’s retained carbon.
