Scarce Alken title, a variant collection of plates similar to those contained in Alken’s Characteristic Sketches, published by Dickinson in January 1826. The title and subtitle vary slightly in each of the copies described in Schwerdt 1:11 and in the FitzEugene Dixon sale (lot 81), where they are transcribed from printed labels rather than a cover sheet as in the present copy.
