The first posthumous collection of Thoreau's writings, first printed in 1863. Comprised of "Natural History of Massachussetts," "A Walk in Wachusett," "The Landlord," "A Winter Walk," "The Succession of Forest Trees," "Walking," "Autumnal Tints," "Wild Apples," "Night and Moonlight," and a biographical sketch by Emerson. This was the first book to include a portrait of Thoreau.
