The first novel in French exclusively devoted to Zombies.
Le zombi du grand Pérou ou la comtesse de cocagne by Pierre-Corneille Blessebois, first published in 1697, mentions zombies as just one element of an exotic narrative. Le Zombie was published just three years after the film White Zombie. This novel has never been translated into English and is not well known.
Francis de Miomandre is the pseudonym of author and translator François Félicien Durand (1880-1959), whose 1908 novel Écrit sur de l'eau won the prix Goncourt.
First edition, after 13 numbered copies on fine paper. Rare.
