Signed by Graves at the head of the title-page, and with the collection's third poem, "A Pinch of Salt," written out in Graves' hand on the blank final leaf, with two words differing from the printed poem. This was Graves' privately printed second book, which was distributed by the poet's friend and trenchmate, Sigfried Sassoon, while Graves convalesced in England following battlefield injuries which originally resulted in his being reported as killed in action.
