Item #311194

A letter from British humorist, essayist, novelist, anthologist, literary biographer, travel writer, and art critic, E.V. Lucas (1868-1938), written during his tenure as chairman of Methuen & Co. publishers, to American author, Minnie Hite Moody (1900-1993) relating that he has written “Mr. Moe,” possibly Henry Allen Moe, Head of the Guggenheim Foundation, and making a thinly veiled, if not somewhat cryptic, reference to Moody’s 1936 novel, Death is a Little Man, reading in part: “Of course I have written to Mr. Moe, and I hope that he does what I and you want. Death may be a little man but he can do immense damage as well as give relief.”.
