A no-nonsense reply from he 15th Commandant of the Marine Corps. Reading in part: “I do not attribute my accession to my present position to anything unusual, but mostly to good health (I did not have to retire) and attention to duty.”

Born in Big rapids, Michigan, Major General Ben Hebard Fuller (1870-1937) was a decorated veteran of the Philippine-American War, Boxer Rebellion, and the Banana Wars.
