Potted biographical work on the life of Addison, ascribed to Giles Jacob (one of Pope's dunces) and signed "G.J." at the Preface. The author attempts to clear Addison's name from the insinuation that he had a hand in the composition of The Drummer, a play that Addison did in fact write. I was put on at Drury Lane by Steele and achieved only moderate success.
