Author's Autograph Edition, Number 23 of 500 set. 40 vols. 8vo. WITH MANUSCRIPT. Publisher's green levant morocco, boards decoratively stamped in gilt at corners, spines with five raised bands, compartments lettered or stamped in gilt; top edge gilt, others untrimmed; gilt-tooled board edges and turn-ins; marbled endpapers; signed by G.P.Putnam's on front pastedown. Backstrips faintly dulled, spine ends worn with some occasional small chips, boards lightly rubbed with mild wear to edges; a few joints broken, rear board of The Life of George Washington and front board of The Crayon Miscellany both detached, few others only starting. Manuscript leaf corners right-edge corners torn at adhesive. Overall, still a very good set.
