The novel is set in Saginaw county, northern Michigan, on the grounds of the “Centennial Club”. The film was produced in 1971, directed by Larry Peerce from Semple’s script, with Robert Fields as
“Vernor Stanton” and Nicolas Coster as “James Quinn”.
