Item #306065

An unpublished manuscript illustrated with 14 original watercolors.
A skillfully and pleasingly executed series of watercolors illustrating the ill-fated journey of one Jack Jarvis, who returns from his jaunt without arms or legs.
The author and illustrator, Charles Collette (1842-1924), was a popular English stage actor and composer. His extravagantly titled Cryptoconchoidsyphonostomata, or While It's to be Had, premiered in 1875 on the same billing as Gilbert and Sullivan's Trial by Jury.
