Here is a two page list of his publications with a one page ALSClarke was an Abolitionist, Transcendentalist, editor of the liberal Western Messenger. He purchased the Brook Farm in 1855, but never was able to revitalise it. He was one of the first Americans to read and write about Eastern religions.
Reading in part:
"...As regards my 'ogfficial literary positions'-I edited the 'Western Messenger' a literary & religous monthly magazine in Louisville, Ky. from 1836 to 1839...I have been on the Bioard of Overseers of Harvard University, with the exception of two years, sincer 1865..."
