Unpublished manuscript notes made by Irving following a visit, at an unknown date, to the Tower of London. In part: "The treasury of crimes; the horror of sighs; the church of St Peters within the tower is the burial place of most of those guarded persons who have been sacrificed. [There] rests the dust of that excellent man and holy martyr Fisher Bishop of Rochester, also the wise, the witty and the good Sir Thomas More another martyr; Anne Boleyn the innocent and Catherine Howard the guilty wife of the tyrant Henry VIII. Thomas Cromwell ... John Dudley ... Robert Devereux" etc.
The Berg collection at the New York Public Library has an Irving manuscript of 15 pages described as "Notes on the Tower of London"
