"I shall feel honored by being numbered in your list of Vice Presidents..." Evans writes to a W. Strudwick to accept the position of Vice President on, presumably, a parliamentary committee.

Having fought in the Peninsular War, the War of 1812, the Battle of Waterloo, and the Carlist War, in 1850 Evans was the member of parliament for Westminster. He would soon see action again in 1853 in the Crimea where he served with distinction in command of the 2nd division of the 21st Royal North British Fusiliers.

This letter is accompanied by an engraved portrait of Evans.
