Item #304128

A heartfelt letter of condolence to his cousin, the widow of Henry IV of France. In addition, Cosimo (the Duke of Tuscany) has also sent his secretary, Andrea Cioli, and offers the assistance of the house of Medici: "di tutta questa sua Casa."

Marie de' Medici and Henry IV were married in 1600 (after the annulment of his first marriage in 1599). Upon his death, she became regent to their son Louis XIII (then eight) until he asserted his authority in 1617 and assumed the throne.
