Presentation copy of Hugo's introduction to the Paris-Guide, written during the author's exile on Guernsey and published on the occasion of the International Exposition of 1867. Presentation copy, inscribed on the half-title: "À M. Garcin, Victor Hugo" and with Hugo's inscription on the front wrapper entrusting this volume to his brother-in-law: "aux soins de M. Paul Foucher."
Foucher (1810-1875) was a novelist, playwright and journalist and the brother of Hugo's wife, Adèle Foucher.
