About the item
1 vols. 8vo. In Hand-Painted Vellum Binding. Handsomely bound in hand-painted vellum, featuring ornate Gothic lettering on the spine with gilt, blue and red capitals, the covers lightly decorated with geometrical pattern of gilt diamonds, and an elaborate center monogram of Marguerite d'Angouleme in red, silver, green and gilt with floriated gilt tendrils on the upper cover, the lower cover features a leafy brown and gilt center design inside a gilt outlined quatrefois, t.e.g., original wrappers bound in. The spine is a little darkened and there is some rubbing to the capitals, but otherwise this is a very good and handsome binding.
