Item #29118

Second novel by the Irish-American Byrne, who died tragically in 1928. Byrne, although born in Brooklyn of Irish parents, grew up in Ireland and identified himself strongly with his mother country, even though he eventually settled in New York where he finally made his fame and fortune.
A major manuscript from an important figure in the American literary renaissance. The Foolish Matrons was published by Harpers in September, 1920, and a film based on the novel appeared the following year, directed by Marcel Tourneur.
