Both documents are certifications that the men mentioned in the documents have served in the military and that they are released from service. Avejan was Lieutenant Géneral, and Lieutenant Colonel des Gardes. He was made a Commander of St. Louis in 1693 for his military skills and was promised the Grand Croix.
