Translated from the Italian of Gioachino Greco (c.1600-1634), considered by some to be the first professional chess player. Greco was one of the most celebrated players of the seventeenth century and importantly recorded many of his matches as he travelled across Europe. A complete copy of one of the most famous early chess books.
