From the translation by Louis-Isaac Lemaistre de Sacy, comprising the four Gospels (volumes 1-4) and the Acts of the Apostles (volume 5). Brunet describes de Sacy's translation as more elegant than exact, recognizing it as the most widely used in Catholic editions, with engravings after drawings by Jean-Michel Moreau (1741–1814) of Biblical subjects. Our set contains four frontipieces and 108 plates: volumes 1-4 have their frontispiece and 80 plates as called for in the list of plates at the end of volume 4, but volume 1 has an extra plate at p. 223, not named in the plate list, and omits the plate called for at p. 63. Our copy of volume 5 has 28 plates (not 27 as called for in Delaveau), no frontis., and no plate list, as issued. Many sets lack volume 5 altogether, which was issued five years after the first four volumes; all volumes of our copy are uniformly bound.
