Volume Three of the subscriber's edition, limited to 500 numbered sets, reproducing in full color at life size the illustrations of American wild flowers by Mary Vaux Walcott (1860-1940), accompanied by descriptions, fully indexed in each volume. This issue preceded the "Library Edition" in reduced format. It was greeted with praise suggesting that Ms. Walcott accomplished for American Wild Flowers what Audubon had achieved for American Ornithology.
