The First editon of an anonymous pamphlet defending Admiral Byng who was executed for criminal negligence the following year. Samuel Johnson whose interest in Byng was considerable, reviewed at lweast four pamphlets concerning his case. This pamphlet was reviewed jointly with the first part of John Shebbeare's "An Appeal to the People in the Literary Magazine." Two editions of this pamphlet are distinguished by Don Eddy in "Samuel Johnson, Book Reviewer in the Literary Magazine: or Universla Review 1756-1758.
