Very Rare. Contains the text of three letters by “Bob” addressed to his mother describing the battle of Murfreesboro. The author was a officer of the 15th U. S. Infantry, part of the Regular Brigade [or “Forlorn Hope”] consisting of the 15th, 16, 18 and 19th Regiments U. S. Infantry and Battery H, 5th Artillery. They were, for this action, attached to General Rousseau and then joined to General Rosecrans for the battle. The text from two newspapers reports of the battle are included in the texts. With notation under title “The following Letters are printed for private use only, to accommodate friends of the writer, who are absent from the City and desire to hear from him”.
