A compendium of children's games, including a relatively early mention of baseball, as well as two illustrations of the game, one of which is a full page. Any pre-Civil War baseball references are hard to find. This is fine copy of this fragile pamphlet. Rosenbach's "Early American Children's Books" lists several similarly titled volumes, but none that seem to conform to this in exact contents

Block, "The precise publishing date of this chapbook is not certain because the title-page shows 18949 while the cover shows1850. The book contains a section called 'Playing Ball, ' which includes the passage: 'There are a great number of games played with balls, of which base-ball, trap ball, cricket...are most common. It contains two wood-cuts of 'base-ball,' one showing a rudimntary scene of a game and the second 'a party of ballplayers.' "
