Contemporary Papal binding, full red morocco, covers tooled in gold with wide outer roll border, arms of Pope Clement XII in center, spine in six compatments with raised bands, brown morocco lettering-piece, Dutch gilt paper paste-downs. Joints cracked, damage to spine with loss of lower 1-1/2 inches and wear to spine head. Bound in the papal binding of Pope Clement XII, Lorenzo Corsini (1652 - 1740). Corsini inherited a book collection from his uncle and was a dedicated book collector himself. His collection formed the Corsini Library, housed in the Palazzo Corisini and opened by his nephew Cardinal Neri Corsini in 1754.
