James Boswell's "Advertisement for the Present Edition." appears in Volume I (pp [v]-l). This is the son of the famous James Boswell of Johnsonian fame, and his edition of the Malone Variorum Shakespeare has fredquently been called the foundation of modern Shakespearen scholarship.
