One of the most successful Derrydale titles, and, though a collection of stories, a leading candidate for The Great American Sporting Novel. We know of no other Derrydale book with fore-edge painting; it was possibly done at the behest of Eugene V. Connett, III, the proprietor of the Press, perhaps as a gift. The painting appears to illustrate the climatic racing scene from the story “Enid Ashley's Knight Errant”, which appears in the book.
