Scarce regional printing (CLC locates only the BN copy) of this ittle “conte de fée” from the pen of the author (1650-1705) who coined the very phrase which now describes the genre we call the “fairy tale”. Her collection, CONTES DES FEES, was first published in 1698, and the individual tales were frequently reprinted in cheap editions over the following decades. The standard 18th-century English translation, by Mary Coooper, appeared in the mid-18th century under the title, THE COURT OF QUEEN MAB, in which this tale appears as “The Little Good Mouse” (v. THE OSBORNE COOLLECTION, p. 587).
