Newhouse Communications Center at Syracuse University … Thank you, too, for your prayerful blessing in performance of the tasks which lie ahead …”
The later half of the letter refers to the Gulf of Tonkin Resolution which had been passed by a joint resolution of Congress on August 7, 1964 and gave the President authority to use conventional military force in Vietnam without Congressional approval.
