A rare inscription from this Boston abolitionist (1824-1904), ardent women’s suffragist, secretary of the New England Freedmen's Aid Society, author of many books, friend of Ralph Waldo Emerson, Margaret Fuller, Harriet Beecher Stowe, Bronson Alcott, and many others, and biographer of Louisa May Alcott. An important memoir of this extraordinary woman, written at the end of her life.
Estelle M.H. Merrill was an author (under the pseudonym “Jean Kincaid”), and the founder of The Cantabrigia Club for women, and thee editor of CAMBRIDGE SKETCHES BY CAMBRIDGE AUTHORS (1896).
