Item #246521

Narrative satirical poem relating to the imaginary wanderings of a young Yale faculty member (said to be George Jones, a Yale graduate) in Greece, Turkey, etc. Auxencio Maria Peno, a disgruntled Yale student from Mexico, recited this poem in the college chapel, leading to his expulsion. Copies were then concealed between the ceiling and the wood closet door in the front middle room, fourth story, north entry of old South Middle (later Connecticut Hall), where they were discovered after a fire in 1890.
