¶The noted American psychiatrist writes, on receiving Hartley's query about the value of high school education “High school years form the veriest base line for employment and for most social communication.” Of his works he writes “I think, however, that ‘Love Against Hate’ would appeal to more of your students, also ‘Whatever Became of Sin.’ ‘The Vital Balance’ is a little heavy for high school students, but the latter half of it, from page 270 would interest you.” He mentions that his eldest daughter was a high school teacher and is now a consultant to the county Superintendent of Instruction in Los Angeles County” so education is often a considered factor in his life.
